SYMMETRY IN POLYMER SCIENCE

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1986
AbstractStereoregularity and conformation of high polymers are reviewed in relation to symmetry. Stereoregularity of polypropylene is analyzed with two kinds of Bernoullian stochastic processes, while conformation of poly(vinylidene fluoride) in solution is related to that in the crystalline state.

Fabrication of helix–fiber composites with mechanically coupled core-wrapping for programmable properties

open access: yesCommunications Materials, 2023
Helix-fiber composites (HFCs), which involve wrapping a material around a flexible core, are of interest for intelligent stretchable functional materials or devices.

Pressure Driven Flow of Polymer Solutions in Nanoscale Slit Pores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Polymer solutions subject to pressure driven flow and in nanoscale slit pores are systematically investigated using the dissipative particle dynamics approach. We investigated the effect of molecular weight, polymer concentration and flow rate on the profiles across the channel of the fluid and polymer velocities, polymers density, and the three ...

A negative piezo-conductive effect from doped semiconducting polymer thin films

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
In the past years, piezo-conductive sensors have drawn great attention in both academic and industrial sectors. The piezo-conductive sensors made by inorganic semiconductors exhibited poor mechanical flexibility, restricting their further practical ...

Potentials and challenges of polymer informatics: exploiting machine learning for polymer design [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
There has been rapidly growing demand of polymeric materials coming from different aspects of modern life because of the highly diverse physical and chemical properties of polymers. Polymer informatics is an interdisciplinary research field of polymer science, computer science, information science and machine learning that serves as a platform to ...

Frank Elastic Constants of Semiflexible Polymer Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We derive the Frank elastic constants for nematic solutions of semiflexible polymers. We plot these results as a function of the coarse-grained Maier-Saupe quadrupole aligning strength and polymer stiffness ranging from rigid to highly flexible. The derivation uses the random phase approximation and combines the exact results for the statistics of a ...

Chloroplast‐inspired Scaffold for Infected Bone Defect Therapy: Towards Stable Photothermal Properties and Self‐Defensive Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Bone implant‐associated infections induced by bacteria frequently result in repair failure and threaten the health of patients. Although black phosphorus (BP) material with superior photothermal conversion ability is booming in the treatment of bone ...

Influence of solvent quality on polymer solutions: a Monte Carlo study of bulk and interfacial properties [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 121, 612 (2004), 2004
The effect of solvent quality on dilute and semi-dilute regimes of polymers in solution is studied by means of Monte Carlo simulations. The equation of state, adsorptions near a hard wall, wall-polymer surface tension and effective depletion potentials are all calculated as a function of concentration and solvent quality.

Defining Structure‐Function Relationships of Amphiphilic Excipients Enables Rational Design of Ultra‐Stable Biopharmaceuticals

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Biopharmaceuticals are the fastest‐growing class of drugs in the healthcare industry, but their global reach is severely limited by their propensity for rapid aggregation.
