The electrical properties of InN give it potential for applications in III-nitride electronic devices, and the use of lower-dimensional epitaxial structures could mitigate issues with the high lattice mismatch of InN to GaN (10%). N-polar MOCVD growth of

A potential biomarker of cognitive impairment: The olfactory dysfunction and its genes expression
Abstract Objective Accumulation evidence has reported that olfactory impairment may be an essential clinical marker and predictor of mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease. Method Participants were enrolled in the population‐based, prospective study in Fuxin county, Liaoning province, China between 2019 and 2021.

Electronic structure of MnSi: The role of electron-electron interactions
We present an experimental study of the electronic structure of MnSi. Using x-ray absorption spectroscopy XAS, x-ray photoemission, and x-ray fluorescence, we provide experimental evidence that MnSi has a mixed valence ground state. We show that self-consistent local density approximation supercell calculations cannot replicate the XAS spectra of MnSi,

Interplay of spin-orbit coupling and Coulomb interaction in ZnO-based electron system [PDF]
Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) is pivotal for various fundamental spin-dependent phenomena in solids and their technological applications. In semiconductors, these phenomena have been so far studied in relatively weak electron-electron interaction regimes, where the single electron picture holds.

An outline is given of some of the steps which in the last ten years have led to an understanding of many of the properties of conduction and valence bands in non-crystalline materials. The concept of a mobility edge is described and some of the experimental evidence for its existence.

A transient inflammatory response contributes to oxaliplatin neurotoxicity in mice
Abstract Objectives Peripheral neuropathy is a relevant dose‐limiting adverse event that can affect up to 90% of oncologic patients with colorectal cancer receiving oxaliplatin treatment. The severity of neurotoxicity often leads to dose reduction or even premature cessation of chemotherapy.

Free-electron properties of metals under ultrafast laser-induced electron-phonon nonequilibrium: A first-principles study [PDF]
The electronic behavior of various solid metals (Al, Ni, Cu, Au, Ti, and W) under ultrashort laser irradiation is investigated by means of density functional theory. Successive stages of extreme nonequilibrium on picosecond time scale impact the excited material properties in terms of optical coupling and transport characteristics.
