Quantum Monte Carlo Calculations of Pion Scattering from Li
We show that the neutron and proton transition densities predicted by recent quantum Monte Carlo calculations for A=6,7 nuclei are consistent with pion scattering from 6Li and 7Li at energies near the Delta resonance.

Hypervision Proton Surgery: The Future Direction of Proton Therapy
ABSTRACT Proton beams provide unique physical advantages characterized by a low entrance dose, negligible exit dose, and a sharp Bragg peak, which enable superior sparing of normal tissues and support safe dose escalation for improved tumor control. However, conventional photon‐based fractionation remains widely used in proton therapy, where prolonged ...

Dual-mode operation of a neutron source, a concept [PDF]
Pulsed neutron source operates in conjunction with a photomultiplier tube coupled to a gamma ray scintillation crystal. This allows measurements of gamma radiation from both inelastic scattering and thermal neutron capture in a single ...

Neutron and X-ray Scattering Studies of the Lightly-Doped Spin-Peierls System Cu(1-x)Cd(x)GeO3
Single crystals of the lightly-doped spin-Peierls system Cu(1-x)Cd(x)GeO3 have been studied using bulk susceptibility, x-ray diffraction, and inelastic neutron scattering techniques.

Direct kinetic energy extraction from neutron Compton profiles [PDF]
Deep inelastic neutron scattering experiments provide access to atomic momentum distributions and mean kinetic energies. These quantities are intimately connected to nuclear quantum effects associated to the equilibrium ground state of ...

Handed Magnon Propagation in Easy‐Axis Antiferromagnetic α‐Fe2O3
Coherent excitation and detection of handed magnons are achieved in the easy‐axis antiferromagnet α‐Fe2O3. An external magnetic field lifts the degeneracy between left‐ and right‐handed magnons without affecting their propagation velocity. The Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction and anisotropy modulate their amplitude and damping, enabling intrinsic ...

Density Modulations of Zero Sound
Zero sound is a collective mode of the strongly interacting quantum gas that propagates when atomic collisions are negligible, similarly to a plasmon. This work aims at investigating the conditions under which a density modulation associated to this collective mode travels coherently through a strongly interacting Fermi gas.

Polarized neutron inelastic scattering experiments have been carried out in the quasi-1D Ising-like antiferromagnet TlCoCl$_3$. We observed the longitudinal magnetic fluctuation $S_{zz} (Q, \omega)$ for the spin-wave excitation continuum, which has not ...
