A Bimodal Hydrostatic Actuator for Robotic Legs with Compliant Fast Motion and High Lifting Force [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Robotic legs have bimodal operations: swing phases when the leg needs to move quickly in the air (high-speed, low-force) and stance phases when the leg bears the weight of the system (low-speed, high-force). Sizing a traditional single-ratio actuation system for such extremum operations leads to oversized heavy electric motor and poor energy efficiency,

Sustainable Development in the Tunisian Hotel Sector: A Case Study of Using LED Lighting and Photovoltaic Systems

open access: yesEnergies
Researchers and companies are placing increasing importance on sustainability to fight climate change. This study analyzes the sustainability of hotel installation, photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, and the transition from traditional lighting to light ...

Extension of Dancer’s Legs: Increasing Angles Show Motion

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
Usain Bolt’s Lightning Bolt pose, one arm highly extended to one side, suggests action. Likewise, static pictures of animals, legs extended, show animation. We tested a new cue for motion perception—extension—and in particular extension of dancer’s legs.

SWheg: A Wheel-Leg Transformable Robot With Minimalist Actuator Realization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
This article presents the design, implementation, and performance evaluation of SWheg, a novel modular wheel-leg transformable robot family with minimalist actuator realization. SWheg takes advantage of both wheeled and legged locomotion by seamlessly integrating them on a single platform. In contrast to other designs that use multiple actuators, SWheg

The Third Leg of Two-legged Lexicography

open access: yesHERMES - Journal of Language and Communication in Business, 2017
This article argues that the essence of lexicography is its capacity to satisfy the potential users’ punctual information needs in contrast to their global information needs. Simultaneously it shows that lexicographic theory, which so far has studied only two basic types of social situations where information needs may occur, the communicative and ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

En sammenhængende overgang?

open access: yesTidsskrift for Professionsstudier, 2023
This paper examines play experiments during children’s transition from kindergarten to school. Empirically, the article relies on field observations from a pilot study in 2020 where play experiments were designed and unfolded as transition activities in

A solvable walking model for a two-legged robot [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We present a solvable biped walking model based on an inverted pendulum with two massless articulated legs capable of walking on uneven floors and inclined planes. The stride of the two-legged robot results from the pendular motion of a standing leg and the articulated motion of a trailing leg.

Bone‐wise rigid registration of femur, tibia, and fibula for the tracking of temporal changes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Multiple myeloma (MM) induces temporal alterations in bone structure, such as osteolytic bone lesions, which are challenging to identify through manual image interpretation. The large variation in radiologists' assessments, even at expert centers, further complicates diagnosis.
