The mass mμ− of the negative muon is one of the parameters of the elementary particle Standard Model and it allows us to verify the CPT (charge–parity–time) symmetry theorem by comparing mμ− value with the mass mμ+ of the positive muon.

Muon Cooling: Longitudinal Compression [PDF]
A 10 MeV/c $ ^+$ beam was stopped in helium gas of a few mbar in a magnetic field of 5 T. The muon 'swarm' has been efficiently compressed from a length of 16 cm down to a few mm along the magnetic field axis (longitudinal compression) using electrostatic fields. The simulation reproduces the low energy interactions of slow muons in helium gas.

Using Negative Muons as a Probe for Depth Profiling Silver Roman Coinage
Debasement of silver Roman coins is a well-known phenomenon and understanding the quality of ancient silver coinages can provide an idea about the underlying fiscal condition of the issuing states.

Momentum-Dependent Cosmic Ray Muon Computed Tomography Using a Fieldable Muon Spectrometer
Cosmic ray muon tomography has been recently explored as a non-destructive technique for monitoring or imaging dense well-shielded objects, classically not achievable with traditional tomographic methods. As a recent example of technology transition from

The Mu2e experiment will search for the charged-lepton flavor violating (CLFV) neutrino-less conversion of a negative muon into an electron in the field of a nucleus. The conversion process results in a monochromatic electron with an energy of 104.97 MeV,

Electron-muon ranger: performance in the MICE muon beam [PDF]
The Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) will perform a detailed study of ionization cooling to evaluate the feasibility of the technique. To carry out this program, MICE requires an efficient particle-identification (PID) system to identify muons.

Fusion holds great promise as a clean and abundant energy source. However, traditional thermonuclear fusion encounters significant challenges due to the extreme temperatures required to overcome the coulomb barrier for two nuclei to fuse. In contrast, muon-catalyzed fusion presents an alternative approach that can surmount this barrier at significantly

Reconstructing muons at a Muon Collider
A Muon Collider represents a promising proposal for the future of particle accelerators. Lepton colliders, indeed, allow to probe much higher energy scales than hadrons with higher precision; in addition, the usage of muons guarantees a much lower level of synchrotron radiation than the electron case.

Microscopic evidence for anisotropic multigap superconductivity in the CsV3Sb5 kagome superconductor
The recently discovered kagome superconductor CsV3Sb5 (T c ≃ 2.5 K) has been found to host charge order as well as a non-trivial band topology, encompassing multiple Dirac points and probable surface states.
