Separability in consistent truncations

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
The separability of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation has a well-known connection to the existence of Killing vectors and rank-two Killing tensors. This paper combines this connection with the detailed knowledge of the compactification metrics of consistent ...

On the K-theory of twisted higher-rank-graph C*-algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the K-theory of twisted higher-rank-graph algebras by adapting parts of Elliott's computation of the K-theory of the rotation algebras.

Left-ordered inp-minimal groups [PDF]

open access: yesArchive for Mathematical Logic (58), 267-274, 2019, 2016
We prove that any left-ordered inp-minimal group is abelian, and we provide an example of a non-abelian left-ordered group of dp-rank 2.

Rings associated to coverings of finite p-groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In general the endomorphisms of a non-abelian group do not form a ring under the operations of addition and composition of functions. Several papers have dealt with the ring of functions defined on a group which are endomorphisms when restricted to the ...

Valuations and rank of ordered abelian groups [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2004
It is shown that there exists an ordered abelian group that has no smallest positive element and that has no sequence of nonzero elements converging to zero. Some formulae for the rank of ordered abelian groups have been derived and a necessary condition for an order type to be rank of an ordered abelian group has been discussed.

Groups whose proper subgroups of infinite rank have polycyclic-by-finite conjugacy classes [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Group Theory, 2016
A group G is said to be a (PF)C-group or to have polycyclic-by-finite conjugacy classes, if G/C_{G}(x^{G}) is a polycyclic-by-finite group for all xin G. This is a generalization of the familiar property of being an FC-group.

Compact K\"ahler manifolds admitting large solvable groups of automorphisms

open access: yes, 2015
Let G be a group of automorphisms of a compact K\"ahler manifold X of dimension n and N(G) the subset of null-entropy elements. Suppose G admits no non-abelian free subgroup.

When rational sections become cyclic — Gauge enhancement in F-theory via Mordell-Weil torsion

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We explore novel gauge enhancements from abelian to non-simply-connected gauge groups in F-theory. To this end we consider complex structure deformations of elliptic fibrations with a Mordell-Weil group of rank one and identify the conditions under which

Commutator Length of Finitely Generated Linear Groups

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2008
The commutator length “cl(𝐺)” of a group 𝐺 is the least natural number 𝑐 such that every element of the derived subgroup of 𝐺 is a product of 𝑐 commutators.
