Low Complexity Turbo-Equalization: A Clustering Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We introduce a low complexity approach to iterative equalization and decoding, or "turbo equalization", that uses clustered models to better match the nonlinear relationship that exists between likelihood information from a channel decoder and the symbol estimates that arise in soft-input channel equalization.

From Preparation to Performance: Conscientiousness Predicts Negotiation Planning and Value Claiming

open access: yesJournal of Behavioral Decision Making, Volume 38, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Individual difference researchers observe that conscientiousness predicts job but not negotiation performance. This may reflect a genuine absence of this trait's impact on negotiation. But this could also be due to methodological choices in studies to date.

Improving the Performance of Turbo-Coded Systems under Suzuki Fading Channels

open access: yesJournal of Low Power Electronics and Applications, 2019
In this paper, the performance of coded systems is considered in the presence of Suzuki fading channels, which is a combination of both short-fading and long-fading channels.

Therapeutic Potential of Saffron Extract in Mild Depression: A Study of Its Role on Anhedonia in Rats and Humans

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 1277-1291, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Drugs generally used in major depressive disorder are considered inappropriate for the more common milder forms. The efficacy of saffron extracts has been demonstrated in mild to moderate depression and in preclinical models of depression. However, evidence of saffron activity on reduced hedonic responsiveness and motivational anhedonia is ...

Refactoring BZIP2 on the new‐generation sunway supercomputer

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
This paper focuses on the design and realization of a parallelized BZIP2 algorithm tailored for deployment on the New‐Generation Sunway supercomputing platform. By leveraging the unique cache patterns of the New‐Generation Sunway processor, we propose the highly tuned multi‐threading and multi‐node implementations of the BZIP2 applications for ...

The Distribution of Cycle Lengths in Graphical Models for Iterative Decoding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Trans. Information Theory 47(6):2549-2553, 2001, 1999
This paper analyzes the distribution of cycle lengths in turbo decoding and low-density parity check (LDPC) graphs. The properties of such cycles are of significant interest in the context of iterative decoding algorithms which are based on belief propagation or message passing.

Joint Active User Detection, Timing Offset and Channel Estimation for FBMC‐Based Uplink Massive Access Systems

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The robustness against timing offsets of filter bank multi‐carrier (FBMC) is appealing for grant‐free massive access scenarios that mainly adopt asynchronous transmissions. In this work, we propose a compressed sensing based algorithm for joint active user detection as well as timing offset and channel estimation in uplink communication under the ...

Parallel equalization schemes for Turbo equalizer

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2006
In order to reduce the equalization delay induced by iteration, two parallel methods were proposed respectively based on maximum a-posteriori probability (MAP) and linear minimum mean-squared error (LMMSE) equalization algo-rithm in Turbo equalization ...

Turbo-per-Tone Equalization for ADSL Systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
We study the equalization procedure in discrete multitone (DMT)-based systems, in particular, in DMT-based ADSL systems. Traditionally, equalization is performed in the time domain by means of a channel shortening filter.

Turbo Decoding on the Binary Erasure Channel: Finite-Length Analysis and Turbo Stopping Sets [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, vol. 53, no. 11, pp. 4059-4075, Nov. 2007, 2006
This paper is devoted to the finite-length analysis of turbo decoding over the binary erasure channel (BEC). The performance of iterative belief-propagation (BP) decoding of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over the BEC can be characterized in terms of stopping sets.
