Studying the Logistic Model

open access: yesReports in Advances of Physical Sciences, 2022
Several studies have used the logistic equation to model the growth of cancer cell populations1 as seen in Eq. (1). This has included correlated multiplicative, [Formula: see text] and additive, [Formula: see text], noise terms.

Model selection in logistic regression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper is devoted to model selection in logistic regression. We extend the model selection principle introduced by Birg and Massart (2001) to logistic regression model. This selection is done by using penalized maximum likelihood criteria. We propose in this context a completely data-driven criteria based on the slope heuristics.

The Gudermannian Growth Model: Theory, Application and Statistical Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2022
: Processes producing sigmoid curves are common in many areas such as biology, agrarian sciences, demography and engineering. Several mathematical functions have been proposed for modeling sigmoid curves.

Logistic Model Trees [PDF]

open access: yesMachine Learning, 2003
Tree induction methods and linear models are popular techniques for supervised learning tasks, both for the prediction of nominal classes and continuous numeric values. For predicting numeric quantities, there has been work on combining these two schemes into 'model trees', i.e. trees that contain linear regression functions at the leaves.

How Does Social Embeddedness Affect Farmers’ Adoption Behavior of Low-Carbon Agricultural Technology? Evidence From Jiangsu Province, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Agricultural carbon emissions, which are the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in China, not only place great pressure on emission reduction but also seriously affect food security and sustainable development of agriculture.

On the linear in probability model for binary data [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
The analysis of binary response data commonly uses models linear in the logistic transform of probabilities. This paper considers some of the advantages and disadvantages of simple least-squares estimates based on a linear representation of the ...

Nonlinear regression analysis of length growth in cultured rainbow trout [PDF]

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2020
Length growth as a function of time has a non-linear relationship, so nonlinear equations are recommended to represent this kind of curve. We used six nonlinear models to calculate the length gain of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) during the final ...

Production of fine zinc borate in industrial scale [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2012
In this study, zinc borate production in an industrial scale batch reactor was carried out at the optimum process conditions determined in the previous studies performed at the laboratory and pilot scale reactors.

On the Complexity of Logistic Regression Models [PDF]

open access: yesNeural Computation, 2019
We investigate the complexity of logistic regression models, which is defined by counting the number of indistinguishable distributions that the model can represent (Balasubramanian, 1997 ). We find that the complexity of logistic models with binary inputs depends not only on the number of parameters but also on the distribution of inputs in a ...
