Versatile Direct (Hetero)Arylation Polymerization of Electro‐Deficient Unsubstituted Thiazolo[5,4‐d]Thiazole: A Tool to Lower the LUMO Level

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
An unsubstituted thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole (TzTz) unit is used to synthesize a series of novel semiconducting polymers via eco‐friendly direct arylation polymerization. These TzTz‐based copolymers, with various electron‐withdrawing comonomers, display optical bandgaps of 1.5–2.0 eV and strong thermal stability.

Problem of Nonlinear Conductivity within Relaxation Time Approximation in Noncentrosymmetric Insulators

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that the relaxation time approximation (RTA) for the quantum kinetic equation, a simple method for describing nonequilibrium steady states, has a critical flaw in the longitudinal nonlinear DC conductivity of insulators under weak electric fields.

The Legacy of Manuel Cardona: A Bibliometric Study

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Manuel Cardona who passed away about 10 years ago was a highly cited physicist in his lifetime. His legacy in terms of an analysis of his publication record and a bibliometric citation analysis is presented. A bibliometric analysis of the publication activities of Manuel Cardona is presented.

Data assimilation errors due to incomplete accounting of balanced versus unbalanced moisture

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We investigate data assimilation strategies with moisture and assess the impact of accounting for moisture's balanced and unbalanced components. To illustrate the main ideas, examples are presented using a simple model consisting of linear, moist, shallow‐water equations with stochastic forcing.

Nanotubes from Transition Metal Dichalcogenides: Recent Progress in the Synthesis, Characterization and Electrooptical Properties

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This review describes recent (mostly last five years) progress in the synthesis, structural characterization, and properties of nanotubes from layered transition metal dichalcogenides, including in‐silico investigations. In the picture, ultra long multiwall nanotubes (up to 0.5 mm) nanotubes reported in Ref.
