Seismic Insights Into the Role of Rockfall in Rockslide Destruction Processes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The dynamic link between rockslide failure and rockfall activity remains elusive, primarily due to the challenge of detecting weak signals amidst high noise. We propose a seismic attribute guided deep learning framework that formulates rockfall detection as a time‐series segmentation task, facilitating the precise extraction of rockfall events

Introducing the Coincidence Index: A Novel Diagnostic and Production‐Based Framework for Water Body Interaction Analysis and Its Application to Study the Interaction of River Plumes

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Quantifying interactions between distinct water bodies is critical yet challenging for understanding ocean and estuarine dynamics. We introduce the coincidence index (CI), defined as the product of two arbitrary tracers (a $a$, b $b$), to diagnose where two water masses coexist and mix.

Diagnosing Cryospheric Runoff Dynamics: A Distributed Differentiable Hydrological Model With Global Transfer Learning

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Accurate hydrological prediction in alpine regions remains challenging due to complex cryospheric processes and limited observational records. Traditional hydrological models are often subject to structural uncertainty, whereas purely data‐driven deep learning (DL) models may lack physical interpretability under non‐stationary climate ...

Premarital Cohabitation and Intimate Partner Violence in Urban China: Evidence From Beijing

open access: yesJournal of Marriage and Family, Volume 88, Issue 4, Page 1004-1022, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study contributes to the emerging literature on cohabitation and marital outcomes in urban China by examining the associations between premarital cohabitation and six types of intimate partner violence (IPV). Background Premarital cohabitation has been on the rise, yet its evolving meanings and long‐term implications for post ...

Robust Chiral High‐Q Response Driven by Quasi‐Bound Flatband in the Continuum

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
This work theoretically proposes and numerically realizes chiral flatband quasi‐BICs by engineering four counterpropagating folded guided modes. The chiroptical response arises from destructive interference of two antiphase intrinsic modes, and the flatband originates from the interactions among opposite curvature hybrid guided modes.
