Universalität und Hypertranszendenz von Zetafunktionen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The starting point of the thesis is the {\it universality} property of the Riemann Zeta-function $\zeta(s)$ which was proved by Voronin in 1975: {\it Given a positive number $\varepsilon>0$ and an analytic non-vanishing function $f$ defined on a ...

A unified strategy to compute some special functions of number-theoretic interest

open access: yes, 2023
We introduce an algorithm to compute the functions belonging to a suitable set ${\mathscr F}$ defined as follows: $f\in {\mathscr F}$ means that $f(s,x)$, $s\in A\subset {\mathbb R}$ being fixed and $x>0$, has a power series expansion centred at $x_0=1 ...

New effective results in the theory of the Riemann zeta-function

open access: yes, 2022
Results in the present thesis are divided into four groups and are mainly effective estimates for the Riemann zeta function $\zeta(s)$ and associated functions under the assumption of the (Generalized) Riemann Hypothesis.

Tuning cell surface charge in E. coli with conjugated oligoelectrolytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cationic conjugated oligoelectrolytes (COEs) varying in length and structural features are compared with respect to their association with E. coli and their effect on cell surface charge as determined by zeta potential measurements.

Elementary Deuring-Heilbronn Phenomenon

open access: yes, 2012
Adapting a technique of Pintz, we give an elementary demonstration of the Deuring phenomenon: a zero of \zeta(s) off the critical line gives a lower bound on L(1,\chi).

Combining hyaluronic acid with chitosan enhances gene delivery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The low gene transfer efficiency of chitosan-DNA polyplexes is a consequence of their high stability and consequent slow DNA release. The incorporation of an anionic polymer is believed to loosen chitosan interactions with DNA and thus promote higher ...

Discovery of a Faint Companion to Alcor Using MMT/AO 5 $\mu$m Imaging

open access: yes, 2009
We report the detection of a faint stellar companion to the famous nearby A5V star Alcor (80 UMa). The companion has M-band ($\lambda$ = 4.8 $\mu$m) magnitude 8.8 and projected separation 1".11 (28 AU) from Alcor. The companion is most likely a low-mass (

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
