Revised Soil Erodibility K-factor for Soils in the Czech Republic

open access: yes, 2018
In the territory of the Czech Republic there are more than 50% of agricultural soils exposed to water erosion; it is a very urgent problem both at present and for the future. It must be solved now when there is still something to be protected.

The Di-Photon Background to a Light Higgs Boson at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Recent years have seen a significant advance in our ability to calculate two-loop matrix elements. In this talk we describe an application of this breakthrough to improve our understanding of the background to the search for a light Higgs boson at the ...

Degree sum condition for fractional ID-$k$-factor-critical graphs

open access: yes, 2017
. A graph G is called a fractional ID- k -factor-critical graph if after deleting any independent set of G the resulting graph admits a fractional k -factor.

A Quality Improvement Initiative to Standardize Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia Prophylaxis in Pediatric Patients With Solid Tumors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric patients with extracranial solid tumors (ST) receiving chemotherapy are at an increased risk for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP). However, evidence guiding prophylaxis practices in this population is limited. A PJP‐related fatality at our institution highlighted inconsistent prescribing approaches and concerns about

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

A sufficient condition for the existence of a k-factor excluding a given r-factor

open access: yes, 2017
Let G be a graph, and let k, r be nonnegative integers with k ≥ 2. A k-factor of G is a spanning subgraph F of G such that dF(x) = k for each x ∈ V (G), where dF(x) denotes the degree of x in F. For S ⊆ V (G), NG(S) = ∪x∊S NG(x).

Improved USLE-K factor prediction: A case study on water erosion areas in China

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research, 2016
Soil erodibility (K-factor) is an essential factor in soil erosion prediction and conservation practises. The major obstacles to any accurate, large-scale soil erodibility estimation are the lack of necessary data on soil characteristics and the misuse ...

Pazopanib Combined With Vincristine and Irinotecan in Relapsed Wilms Tumor: Encouraging Outcomes in a Heavily Pretreated Pediatric Cohort

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background While Wilms tumor (WT) typically has a favorable prognosis, relapsed cases—especially those with high‐risk histology—remain therapeutically challenging after intensive frontline therapy. The combination of vincristine and irinotecan has demonstrated activity in pediatric solid tumors, and pazopanib, a multi‐targeted tyrosine kinase ...

A Forward Branching Phase Space Generator for Hadron colliders

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we develop a projective phase space generator appropriate for hadron collider geometry. The generator integrates over bremsstrahlung events which project back to a single, fixed Born event. The projection is dictated by the experimental jet

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.
