Optimal control of Newton-type problems of minimal resistance
We address Newton-type problems of minimal resistance from an optimal control perspective. It is proven that for Newton-type problems the Pontryagin maximum principle is a necessary and sufficient condition.

Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

THE GEOMETRY THROUGH THE BODY: DOING, ACTING, THINKING
The geometry has been for more than two millennia one of the most important fields of knowledge of mathematics, identifying with it for a long time. In education, the relationship between the geometry and the physical world has always been considered one

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Identification problems for nonclassical integro-differential parabolic equations
In this paper we identify a convolution kernel k — i.e. we prove existence and uniqueness of k — in a first-order singular integrodifferential operator equation of Volterra type in two overdetermined problems in the framework of Hilbert spaces. We stress

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Low thrust propulsion in a coplanar circular restricted four body problem
This paper formulates a circular restricted four body problem (CRFBP), where the three primaries are set in the stable Lagrangian equilateral triangle configuration and the fourth body is massless.
