Abstract The stoichiometric ratios of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) serve as important indicators for assessing nutrient balance in forest ecosystems, but their relationships with photosynthetic dynamics require deeper characterization.

Inthe vegetative phase of growth in bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), the dry matter gain depends on the physiological behavior and growth habit of the bean plant. The Growth process in relation to growth type were evaluated in the present study. The purpose

Facilitation influences when trees grow, but not growth rate in a dry temperate forest
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Accurately predicting the role of forests in the global carbon cycle requires a detailed understanding of the factors mediating the timing and magnitude of radial stem growth. While weather conditions and topo‐edaphic factors play a critical role in mediating short‐term

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Associations of trees with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and ectomycorrhizal (EcM) fungi often shape distinct microbial communities in soils. Whether this distinction can create different soil legacies and to what extent such legacies are correlated to phylogenetic ...

This study reveals how long‐term activation of jasmonic and salicylic acid signalling reshapes arthropod communities and plant fitness across seasons. By showing that induced defences generate contrasting outcomes and cascading trade‐offs across trophic levels, it challenges the assumption that induced resistance is uniformly beneficial in natural ...

We studied oviposition site selection in a leaf‐mining moth (Stigmella sorbi) on rowan trees (Sorbus aucuparia) in northwestern Russia, assessing larval performance across different shoot types, leaf positions, and leaflets. Larval survival was highest on long vegetative shoots, yet females showed no preference for these optimal sites.

Robust estimation of key leaf traits from reflectance spectroscopy of herbarium specimens
Abstract Community‐wide efforts to digitize herbarium specimens have facilitated novel uses of specimen data across scales. However, the need for destructive sampling has prevented large‐scale examination of foliar functional traits. We demonstrate that nondestructive reflectance spectra are an effective tool for estimating leaf traits from herbarium ...
