Relationship between left ventricular function and uptake indexes myocardium/lung in Gated-SPECT studies

open access: yesSaúde & Tecnologia, 2015
Introduction – Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography synchronized with the electrocardiographic signal (Gated-SPECT) is central to the joint assessment of perfusion and left ventricular (LV) myocardial function. Objectives – Explore the relationship

Influence of different parameters on the decrease of extra-myocardial activity Gated-SPECT studies

open access: yesSaúde & Tecnologia, 2015
Introduction – Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is one of the most indicated complementary diagnostic exams in cardiovascular disease. Extra myocardial activity is a recurrent problem in the acquisition and evaluation of functional image.

Nuclear shapes are geometrically determined by the excess surface area of the nuclear lamina

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2023
Introduction: Nuclei have characteristic shapes dependent on cell type, which are critical for proper cell function, and nuclei lose their distinct shapes in multiple diseases including cancer, laminopathies, and progeria.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Factors that influence the stability of the FDG

open access: yesSaúde & Tecnologia, 2015
Introduction – The absence of a cyclotron for production of 2-[18F]Fluor-2- -deoxy-D-glucose (18F-FDG) is now a reality for most of the centers where Positron Emission Tomography (TEP) exams are held in. It is therefore important to ensure the quality of

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
