Naming the Wolves: Consumer Credit and Rentier Financialisation on the Brazilian Periphery

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Recent social policy in Brazil has centred on a vision for financial inclusion that claims to alleviate poverty through credit‐based consumption. We argue that, contrary to these claims, Brazil's consumer credit boom has entrenched a financialised macroeconomic model in which debt and rentierism have become motors of the national economy ...

Essential Oils and Plant Extracts for Postharvest Control of Monilinia fructicola in Peaches: Direct Antifungal Activity and Defence Induction

open access: yesJournal of Phytopathology, Volume 174, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the antifungal potential of essential oils and plant extracts for the control of Monilinia fructicola, the causal agent of brown rot in peaches, under in vitro and postharvest conditions. Essential oils and cold aqueous, hot aqueous, and hydroalcoholic extracts of Allium sativum, Syzygium aromaticum, Origanum vulgare ...

Parent‐Adolescent Relationships and Disordered Eating Behavior: Evidence From a Cross‐Sectional Nationwide Study in Brazil

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Disordered eating behaviors (DEBs) in adolescence are influenced by family structure and dynamics, including parental supervision, emotional support, and exposure to neglect or abuse. This study examined the associations between adolescents' relationships with parents or guardians, including indicators of neglect and abuse,

Phosphate system fertilization in no‐tillage Oxisols: Effects of temporal, horizontal, and vertical distribution of available phosphorus in the soil

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 54, Issue 6, Page 1352-1367, November/December 2025.
Abstract System fertilization enhances logistics and phosphorus (P) use efficiency, but its effects in high P‐export systems, particularly regarding fertilization timing, placement, and distribution, remain unclear. This study evaluated P fertilization timing (90, 45, and 0 days before winter crop sowing [DBS]), placement (banded vs.

Design, Synthesis, and Anti‐Glioblastoma Activity Evaluation of N,N‐Di(prop‐2‐yn‐1‐yl)‐4‐(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin‐2‐amines and Their Bis‐Triazole Derivatives

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 44, November 24, 2025.
The synthesis of two new series of N,N‐di(prop‐2‐yn‐1‐yl)‐4‐(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin‐2‐amines and their bis‐triazole derivatives, as well as their antitumoral activity evaluation, is reported. The results underscore the importance of structural modification in enhancing the antitumor activity in neural tissues.

Distribution of Functional Traits Along Climatic Gradients in the Subtropical Atlantic Forest

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 11, November 2025.
We assessed the correlation between climatic factors and altitude with the spatial distribution of tree functional traits in the Subtropical Atlantic Forest. Deciduousness, symbiotic fixation of nitrogen (SNF), toothed leaf, spinescence and leaf area were more significantly associated with climatic drivers.

Vegetation Structure and Composition as Predictors of Small Mammals Assemblages

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Whether the diversity and composition of animal communities are determined by vegetation structure or composition has been an ongoing debate. However, due to combined shortcomings of data and methodology, vegetation structure has been prioritised when trying to understand the effects of vegetation upon animal communities. Here, we explored the

Effects of Landscape Characteristics on Abundance of Giant Anteaters in Intensively Farmed Areas

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
In this study, we analyzed the abundance of giant anteaters in 55 landscapes within a 34,000 km2 region that has undergone significant transformation due to intensive agricultural practices, particularly the cultivation of sugarcane. In each landscape, we used three camera traps to record the presence of this species. Our occupancy models revealed that
