Floral adaptation and modular trait evolution associated with a shift from bee to hummingbird pollination

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
By comparing floral trait variation, integration and modularity in two sister species of Neotropical Costus with a pollination shift, we show that, despite pollination syndrome divergence, both species exhibit low floral variation and functional modularity, consistent with pollinator‐driven selection on traits mediating pollen transfer efficiency and ...

Impacts of reclamation approaches on plant establishment in an arid environment during copper mine revegetation

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Revegetation using native vegetation is a commonly used technique to reclaim landscapes degraded by mining activities. Revegetation efforts in the arid Southwestern United States face physical, geochemical, hydrological, and biological challenges unique to drylands.

The Spillover Environmental Benefits of Asia‐Pacific External Economic Policy: Evidence From China‐Africa Cooperation

open access: yesAsia &the Pacific Policy Studies, Volume 13, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper uses a panel fixed‐effects model to study the impact of Chinese foreign direct investment on the environmental performance of African countries. The analysis uses panel data from 2002 to 2024. The results demonstrate that Chinese FDI significantly improves the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) of African countries, exhibiting ...

Integrating habitat suitability, socioeconomics, and infrastructure to assess global biological invasion risk under climate change: A case study of the rice stem borer, Chilo suppressalis

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 9068-9086, September 2026.
We developed an invasion risk index framework that integrates socioeconomic and environmental data using an entropy‐weighting method. The case study highlights the need for region‐specific biosecurity measures for Chilo suppressalis. Abstract BACKGROUND Biological invasion risk is a multifaceted concept that, according to the Food and Agriculture ...

Assessment of the Performance of Indirect Immunofluorescence Assay for Chagas Disease in Dogs Using a Reference Panel of Four Chimeric Proteins

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
We evaluated the performance of an indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) assay for detecting anti‐Trypanosoma cruzi IgG in dogs using four chimeric IBMP antigens and latent class analysis. The IIF assay showed suboptimal sensitivity and overall accuracy compared to ELISA and LCA‐based methods.
