An Assessment of the Cultivation Potential and Suitability for Human Consumption of Mediterranean Mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819) from the Yalova Coast of the Marmara Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This study aimed to determine into potential suitability of juvenile Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) for cultivation and human consumption collected from various stations (Kapaklı, Çınarcık, Koru, and Deveboynu) along the Yalova coast of

Estimation of successive coseismic vertical offsets using coeval sedimentary events – application to the southwestern limit of the Sea of Marmara's Central Basin (North Anatolian Fault) [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2015
In the deep part of the Sea of Marmara (Turkey), the sedimentation developing upon the North Anatolian Fault is strongly influenced by the associated seismic activity, through gravity reworking (fluidized landslides) and tsunamis.

Segmentation and Holocene Behavior of the Middle Strand of the North Anatolian Fault (NW Turkey)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 40, Issue 11, November 2021., 2021
Abstract The North Anatolian Fault (NAF) in the Marmara region is composed of three parallel strands all separated by ∼50 km. The activity of the middle strand, which borders the southern edge of the Marmara Sea, is much debated because of its present‐day very low seismicity. This contrasts with historical, archeological and paleoseismological evidence,

The structural evolution of pull‐apart basins in response to changes in plate motion

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 1603-1625, April 2021., 2021
The evolution of a pull‐apart basin can be considerably influenced by a change of plate motion that introduces transtension in the basin. Identifying structures of this type of pull‐apart basin evolution are asymmetric triangular basins and wide principal displacement zones with oblique‐normal faults.

Does Deep Tectonic Tremor Occur in the Central‐Eastern Mediterranean Basin?

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 126, Issue 1, January 2021., 2021
Abstract Tectonic tremor has been observed at the roots of many fault systems around the Pacific rim, including convergent and transform plate boundaries. The extent to which deep tremor signals are prevalent along fault systems elsewhere, including the Mediterranean basin, has not yet been documented in detail.

Submarine Earthquake History of the Çınarcık Segment of the North Anatolian Fault in the Marmara Sea, Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
International audienceThe North Anatolian fault (NAF) in the Marmara Sea is a significant hazard for the city of Istanbul. The use of paleoseismological data to provide an accurate seismic risk assessment for the area is constrained by the fact that the ...

A Multi‐Objective Stochastic Model for an Earthquake Relief Network

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Earthquake relief network involves storage and distribution of relief aid to people in need. In this paper, a new stochastic multi‐objective mixed integer mathematical model is developed and implemented in Kadikoy municipality of Istanbul, Turkey in order to configure part of the earthquake relief network.

The Investigation to The Relation Between Loneliness and Living Places in Older Adults

open access: yesYaşam Becerileri Psikoloji Dergisi, 2018
The aim of this study is to analyze loneliness levels of older adults living in community and nursing home. Ninety nine older adults living in Çınarcık/ Yalova between dates of December-February 2016 participated in the study.

Modelling tectonic deformation along the North-Anatolian Fault in the Sea of Marmara [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Using analogue techniques, we attempted to model the complex tectonic deformation pattern observed along the North-Anatolian Fault in the Sea of Marmara from morpho-bathymetry and seismic reflection images.

Aseismic slip and seismogenic coupling in the Marmara Sea: What can we learn from onland geodesy?

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2017
Ever since the Mw7.4 Izmit earthquake in 1999, evaluation of seismic hazard associated with the last unbroken segments of the North Anatolian fault is capital.
