Abstract The optimization of hydrothermal lactic acid (LA) production from corn stover using Ca(OH)2 as catalyst was investigated. Initial studies with a 9 g L−1 glucose solution, and different Ca(OH)2 concentrations, in the range of 0.025–0.1 M, identified 0.075 M as the optimal concentration.

A presentation of the French “économie des conventions”. Application to labour issues [PDF]
This paper presents the main assumptions of the French research on the "économie des conventions" toward an anglo-saxon audience. It applies that framework to labour issues and, specifically, the formalisation of the labour relation.Economics of ...

This study presents a simple strategy to generate self‐assembling peptide‐based hydrogels by combining sequences that include a SaU and a bioactive motif ‐either cell‐adhesive (RGD) or antimicrobial (LF)‐ with HA. The resulting systems form 3D fibrillar networks that are physicochemically characterized and exhibit selective biological functions ...

The Soft Budget Constraint : A Theoretical Clarification [PDF]
In this paper, we have distinguished three different conceptions of the budget constraint (BC). The first one, introduced by Clower, regards the BC as a universal (unconditional) rational planning postulate.

Balancing Antigen Loading on Gold Nanoparticles: Implications for Future Cancer Vaccine Strategies
The synthesis of multicomponent cancer vaccines on AuNP carriers could be rationalized by the simultaneous functionalization of the antigen and immunomodulator components on the same particles. Immunization with a “diluted” amount of MUC1‐functionalized AuNPs is still capable of eliciting a strong immune response.

Benefits of Open Quantum Systems for Quantum Machine Learning
Quantum machine learning (QML), poised to transform data processing, faces challenges from environmental noise and dissipation. While traditional efforts seek to combat these hindrances, this perspective proposes harnessing them for potential advantages. Surprisingly, under certain conditions, noise and dissipation can benefit QML.

The Vlasov Equation Cannot Fully Account for Collisionless Shocks
ABSTRACT It is argued that the Vlasov equation cannot fully account for collisionless shocks since it conserves entropy, while a shock does not. A rigorous mathematical theory of collisionless shocks could require working at the Klimontovich level.
