Sunscreens can preserve human skin microbiome upon erythemal UV exposure
International Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 71-84, February 2024.We identified potential microorganisms, bacterial interactions, and pathways that were associated with the SPF 20 sunscreen treatment. The specific protection of Lactobacillus crispatus as a key player in the UV‐exposed skin microbiome and reduction of Cutibacterium acnes population by UV filters might lead to new cosmetic concepts for photoprotection.
