Retention Bans Are Beneficial but Insufficient to Stop Shark Overfishing
ABSTRACT Sharks are among the most threatened groups of exploited fishes, comprising common bycatch across many fisheries. Management efforts intended to safeguard threatened species have increasingly focused on retention bans to reduce bycatch mortality. However, the population effects of such measures remain unevaluated across species.

Firm Hierarchy and the Market for Knowledge
ABSTRACT This paper sheds light on the role of the market for knowledge in shaping a firm's hierarchy—that is, the span of control and the number of layers. We predict that the larger the extent of the market for knowledge, the larger the span of control and the fewer the layers.

Summary Soybean cyst nematode (SCN, Heterodera glycines) is a major pathogen harmful to soybean all over the world, causing huge yield loss every year. Soybean resistance to SCN is a complex quantitative trait controlled by a small number of major genes (rhg1 and Rhg4) and multiple micro‐effect genes.

This study investigates the precise identification of reactive CH positions within nitrogen heteroarenes, crucial for synthesizing pharmaceutical compounds. We employed the Radical General‐Purpose Reactivity Indicator (R‐GPRI) and the Radical Fukui Function (RFF) to determine the regioselectivity of nitrogen heteroarenes susceptible to •CF3 and •i‐Pr ...

This study develops a highly efficient, lead‐free perovskite solar cell featuring a dual‐absorber system composed of Ca3SbI3 and Sr3SbI3, with SnS2 as the electron transport layer and Spiro‐OMeTAD as the hole transport layer. The proposed double perovskite structure exhibits outstanding power conversion efficiency of 32.74% with a JSC of 34.17 mA cm−2,

This study demonstrates that the resveratrol analogue, trans‐4,4′‐dihydroxystilbene (DHS), exhibits synergistic anti‐tumor activity with the PARP inhibitor talazoparib, inducing significant ovarian cancer cell death. The synergistic effect of this combination arises from the concurrent downregulation of homologous recombination factors and the ...

Evolving Fluid Source During the Growth of a Trench‐Parallel Seismogenic Fault System
Abstract Fluid infiltration along seismically‐active faults and fluid‐rock interaction influence the mechanical behavior of faults. Nevertheless, how fluid infiltration and fluid‐rock interactions evolve at seismogenic depths with fault slip accumulation remain poorly constrained in the geological record.

Abstract The representation of cloud microphysical processes in climate models continues to be a major challenge leading to uncertainty in climate simulations. The shape parameter (equivalent to relative dispersion) of gamma distribution for ice particles is assumed to be 0 in the Beijing Climate Center Atmospheric General Circulation Model (BCC‐AGCM).

Our findings reveal that the western black crested gibbon (Nomascus concolor) did not divide into different subspecies, and the relatively low level of genetic diversity emphasizes the importance of monitoring this indicator for vulnerable wildlife.

Vertical Cancer Transmission via Asexual Fragmentation and Associated Cancer Prevalence
ABSTRACT While sexual reproduction is a general feature of animals, fissiparity and budding are relatively uncommon modes of asexual reproduction by which a fragment from a parent becomes an independent organism. Unlike unitary development, tumor cells can be included in the detached fragment destined to become offspring.
