On the efficiency of stratospheric gravity wave production from mid‐latitude convective systems: 2D versus 3D dynamics

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Due to greater convective organization, our results indicate higher efficiency of gravity wave production in two‐dimensional systems than in three‐dimensional systems. By analyzing the domain‐averaged entrainment rate, we identified a strong correlation between convective organization and gravity wave (GW) production efficiency, with implications for ...

Strategic Spatial Segregation in Silicon Photoelectrodes: Decoupling Catalytic and Optical Functions for High‐Efficiency Solar Water Splitting

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
A novel spatial segregation strategy for silicon photoelectrodes is demonstrated, where catalyst wires surrounded by tapered microwires effectively decouple competing optical and catalytic requirements. This architectural innovation enables optimal light absorption and catalytic activity while maintaining efficient charge transport, achieving 96.5 ...

The Gold‐Maker of Animal Oil and Prussian Blue Fame — The Chemical and Medicinal Science Philosophy of Johann Conrad Dippel

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
The radical Pietist Johann Conrad Dippel was a self‐proclaimed adept – a maker of gold and the philosophers’ stone. He was also a magister of theology, a doctor of medicine, and a self‐taught chemist, who coinvented the pigment Prussian Blue together with Johann von Diesbach, became known for his animal pyrolysis oil, his wonder‐wound balm, his ...

Diagnosis and Monitoring Pathways Using Non‐Invasive Tests in Patients With Alpha‐1 Antitrypsin Deficiency‐Associated Liver Disease: Results From an Expert Delphi Panel

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims The severe alpha‐1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) genotype Pi*ZZ increases the risk of liver disease (AATD‐LD) and lung disease. While non‐invasive tests (NITs) are widely used for fibrosis stage and monitoring of all liver diseases, the consensus for use in AATD‐LD is limited.

Image and video analysis using graph neural network for Internet of Medical Things and computer vision applications

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Graph neural networks (GNNs) have revolutionised the processing of information by facilitating the transmission of messages between graph nodes. Graph neural networks operate on graph‐structured data, which makes them suitable for a wide variety of computer vision problems, such as link prediction, node classification, and graph classification.

Loanwords and Linguistic Phylogenetics: *pelek̑u‐ ‘axe’ and *(H)a(i̯)g̑‐ ‘goat’1

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, Volume 123, Issue 1, Page 116-136, March 2025.
Abstract This paper assesses the role of borrowings in two different approaches to linguistic phylogenetics: Traditional qualitative analyses of lexemes, and quantitative computational analysis of cognacy. It problematises the assumption that loanwords can be excluded altogether from datasets of lexical cognacy.
