Biocompatibility of Water‐Dispersible Pristine Graphene and Graphene Oxide Using a Close‐to‐Human Animal Model: A Pilot Study on Swine

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 10, April 15, 2025.
Graphene‐based materials are attracting considerable interest for biomedical applications. Analysis of their biocompatibility is required before their clinical translation, and swine represents an excellent close‐to‐human model. This study evaluates the toxicological and immunological impact of pristine graphene and graphene oxide through a compendium ...

Improved Laser Performance of Carbon‐Bridged Oligo(p‐phenylenevinylene)s Through σ‐π Conjugation with Silyl Groups

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 11, April 14, 2025.
Shorter blue‐emitting carbon‐bridged oligo(p‐phenylenevinylene)s (COPVm, m = 1,2) encounter challenges with photostability and high lasing thresholds. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of σ‐π conjugation to improve these properties, through functionalization of COPV2 with terminal silyl group (COPV2–Si1 and COPV2–Si2).

Accelerated predictions of the sublimation enthalpy of organic materials with machine learning

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, Volume 3, Issue 1, March 2025.
A machine learning approach is developed to rapidly predict sublimation enthalpy of organic materials using DFT‐generated data, achieving ∼15 kJ/mol error. Integrating ML, DFT, and active learning, this method efficiently explores materials space and improves predictive accuracy, providing a valuable tool for instantaneous estimation of a critical ...
