Terniopsis chanthaburiensis (Podostemaceae), a new record for China and its complete plastid genome

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
The genus Terniopsis consists of plants that have not been thoroughly studied, with many species remaining taxonomically unresolved. In this study, Terniopsis chanthaburiensis is reported as a new record of China based on morphological traits. Then, we assembled and annotated its chloroplast genome based on genome skimming data.

More than proteins for empty stomachs: Wild meat in the BaTonga food system

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Our paper highlights the limitations of the framework used by many conservation‐focused programmes that incorporate food security objectives. This framework encourages the substitution of wild proteins with domestic proteins by promoting animal farming in communities located near conservation areas.

Navigating across individual and deliberative values: A dual Q‐method approach to elicit diverse values in grassland restoration

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The current ‘UN Decade on Restoration’ calls for collaboration between scientists and practitioners to formulate guidelines for ecosystem restoration, within which transdisciplinary approaches are imperative to rethink the diverse values associated with nature, paving the way for sustainable ecosystem restoration.

Electrified rhythms: How hydropower infrastructure transforms hydrosocial relations of riverine communities in the Lower Sogamoso River, Colombia

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Hydropower dams regulate water flows for millions of downstream inhabitants worldwide, altering water availability. Under a changing climate, flow control is often framed technically and politically as being essential for reducing drought and flood risks. However, it can also disrupt ecological flows, impact livelihoods and erode environmental

Synergizing scientific and local knowledge for ecosystem services assessments: A case study in northern Portugal

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Integrating scientific and local ecological knowledge on ecosystem services (ES) is essential for effective and inclusive environmental management. Such an integration strengthens societal engagement, supports policy implementation and helps reduce sectoral conflicts across marine sectors.

Age‐Dependent Correlation of Pulmonary Function Impairment and Aortic Arch Stiffness in Mice

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
This study examined the relationship between aortic arch stiffness and lung function in aging mice. Multiple linear regression modeling showed moderate to strong correlations between the rise in aortic arch stiffness and changes in lung function as the mice progressively aged.

Investigation of the Mechanism of Cinnamaldehyde in Irritable Bowel Syndrome Based via Network Pharmacology, Molecular Docking, and Animal Experiments

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
Through network pharmacology and molecular docking, it has been discovered that CA can target MAOB, among other proteins, to exert a therapeutic effect in IBS. In vivo, CA lowered visceral hypersensitivity, anxiety and depression‐like behaviors, and fecal water content, highlighting its therapeutic potential for IBS via anti‐inflammatory pathways ...

Towards an evidence‐based and research‐driven restoration strategy for Britain's temperate rainforests

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Woodlands globally are threatened by environmental change and biodiversity loss. Temperate rainforests are an ecologically rich ecosystem found in wet regions of the temperate zone, and Britain has the potential for major temperate rainforest coverage in its nature‐depleted landscape.

Numerical Simulations of Very Low Velocity Impacts and Ignition of an Explosive Confined by a Thin Case

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, EarlyView.
A low‐speed impact (around one meter per second) of a metallic tip on an explosive confined by a thin plate is simulated. The heat due to friction between the tip and the plate and the one due to the deformation of the plate are not transfered to the ignited zone.
