Light competition affects how tree growth and survival respond to climate
Journal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 3, Page 672-688, March 2025.We analysed the effect of light competition on tree growth and survival along both temperature and aridity gradients for the 33 major European tree species. We used forest data from nine European countries and the SamsaraLight ray tracing model. We found that the effect of light competition is weaker in stressful environments.

Global Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 3, March 2025.We evaluate how the diversity and functional traits of copepods—tiny crustaceans that constitute the majority of marine zooplankton—relate to key processes in the oceans such as the production of plankton biomass and how it sinks at depth. The study found that a few dominant copepod species disproportionately shape these processes.
