Coupled Fracture Mechanics‐Geochemical Model of Reaction‐Driven Cracking

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 15, 16 August 2025.
Abstract Reaction‐driven cracking has been discussed for decades. One mechanism is the extension of a microcrack resulting from precipitation. This mechanism can create porosity, permeability and reactive surface area in low‐permeability rock. We model this problem as a fracture loaded over a fraction of its length by a vein.

Numerical Geodynamic Modeling of Buoyancy‐Driven Tethyan‐type Ophiolite Emplacement

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Ophiolites are exposed remnants of oceanic lithosphere that avoid subduction and are instead subaerially exposed, being usually emplaced onto a continental domain. One proposed emplacement mechanism, the Tethyan‐type, requires the subduction of a continental margin beneath an oceanic overriding plate (OP) and subsequent exhumation of the ...

Structure of the NE Oman Mountains: A Review of Robust Geochronological Constraints for Tectonic Models of Ophiolite Obduction and Continental Subduction

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract The Late Cretaceous Semail ophiolite, Oman was emplaced onto the previously passive continental margin of Arabia. Recent geochronology from the ophiolite, its metamorphic sole, and associated high‐pressure (HP) metamorphic rocks have resulted in a proliferation of new tectonic models explaining the sequence of events associated with ophiolite ...

Uplift Dynamics of the Obducted Northeastern Continental Margin of the Arabian Peninsula, Sultanate of Oman

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2023
Eustatic sea level changes and vertical tectonic movements are producing uplifted paleoshorelines. Along subduction zones, uplifted terraces are used to study fault activities and, overall, allow to interpret the tectonic history of plate convergence ...

T6SS-5 and the cGAS-STING pathway in Burkholderia pseudomallei infection and immunity

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine, 2023
Burkholderia pseudomallei is a causative agent of melioidosis that can infect humans and animals in endemic countries, specifically in Southeast Asia and tropical Australia. A fundamental component for the pathogenesis of Burkholderia pseudomallei is the

On the Subduction Polarity Beneath the Semail Ophiolite

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The Semail ophiolite and the UAE‐Oman mountain range offer a rare window into continental subduction and exhumation. Despite almost half a century of conflicting studies, the geometry and number of subductions that characterized the formation of the ophiolite and subsequent obduction remain debated.
