Insights from experiences comanaging woody invasive alien plants in Argentina
Ecological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 4, Issue 4, October–December 2023., 2023 The complexities of invasive alien species (IAS) management call for a close collaboration among stakeholders to comanage effective solutions. Based on a SWOT analysis, we identified personal motivations as the main force that helps to overcome barriers to to IAS comanagement in Argentina. We recommend the development of spaces to share experiences and Priscila Ana Powell, Pablo García‐Díaz, Gloria Fernández Cánepa, Alfredo Grau, Lorena Herrera, Cecilia Nuñez, María Paula Quiroga, Pablo Adrián Quiroga, Tobías Nicolás Rojas, Nahuel Ruiz de Huidobro, Karina L. Ecology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2023., 2023 Most parrots are obligate cavity nesters, so the logging of mature trees and the transformation of natural cliffs represent important threats to their conservation. Here, we report novel observations of Neotropical parrots nesting in previously unrecorded substrates.Pedro Romero‐Vidal, Guillermo Blanco, Fernando Hiraldo, José A. Clinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 113, Issue 5, Page 963-972, May 2023., 2023 Immuno‐oncology (IO) is a fast‐expanding field due to recent success using IO therapies in treating cancer. As IO therapies do not directly kill tumor cells but rather act upon the patients’ own immune cells either systemically or in the tumor microenvironment, new and innovative approaches are required to inform IO therapy research and development ...Vincent Lemaire, David Bassen, Mike Reed, Roy Song, Samira Khalili, Yi Ting (Kayla) Lien, Lu Huang, Aman P. Physiological Reports, Volume 11, Issue 7, April 2023., 2023 (1) Hypercaloric diets can be the main contributor to the current epidemic of obesity and comorbidities. (2) The effects of a combined high‐sugar and high‐fat on inflammatory process and oxidative stress are scare and not well characterized. Biological Reviews, Volume 97, Issue 4, Page 1539-1558, August 2022., 2022 ABSTRACT
Both fire and predators have strong influences on the population dynamics and behaviour of animals, and the effects of predators may either be strengthened or weakened by fire. However, knowledge of how fire drives or mediates predator–prey interactions is fragmented and has not been synthesised. Here, we review and synthesise knowledge of how Tim S. Doherty, William L. Biological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 2542-2583, December 2025.ABSTRACT
Biological invasions are one of the major drivers of biodiversity decline and have been shown to have far‐reaching consequences for society and the economy. Preventing the introduction and spread of alien species represents the most effective solution to reducing their impacts on nature and human well‐being.Hanno Seebens, Laura A. Meyerson, David M. Use and efficacy of fire as a tool for grassland restoration
Restoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 7, September 2025.Grassland ecosystems have suffered significant degradation and restoring them is fundamental to fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. Fire is an important component in the evolution and management of grasslands worldwide and can potentially be used to restore grasslands.
