Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Boosting H+ Storage in Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries via Integrating Redox-Active Sites into Hydrogen-Bonded Organic Frameworks with Strong π-π Stacking.

Angewandte Chemie, 2023
In the emerging aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs), proton (H+) with the smallest molar mass and fast (de)coordination kinetics is considered as the most ideal charge carrier compared with Zn2+ counterpart, however, searching for new hosting materials ...

PbI6 Octahedra Stabilization Strategy Based on π‐π Stacking Small Molecule Toward Highly Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

Advanced Energy Materials, 2023
The unavoidable iodine loss in the perovskite layer is closely related to carrier non‐radiative and device degradation. During the post‐annealing process, the fragile PbI bond is easy to break, leading to the formation of iodine vacancies and inducing ...

Chlorination-Mediated π-π Stacking Enhances the Photodynamic Properties of a NIR-II Emitting Photosensitizer with Extended Conjugation.

Angewandte Chemie, 2023
NIR-II-emitting photosensitizers (PSs) have attracted great research interest due to their promising clinical applications in imaging-guided photodynamic therapy (PDT). However, it is still challenging to realize highly efficient PDT on NIR-II PSs.

A Porous π-π Stacking Framework with Dicopper(I) Sites and Adjacent Proton Relays for Electroreduction of CO2 to C2+ Products.

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2022
Crystalline porous materials sustained by supramolecular interactions (e.g., π-π stacking interactions) are a type of molecular crystals showing considerable stability, but their applications are rarely reported due to the high difficulty of their ...

Fabrication and Characterization of π-π Stacking Peptide-Contained Double Network Hydrogels.

ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering, 2023
Since the physical properties are similar to native extracellular matrices, double network (DN) hydrogels have been studied extensively in the tissue engineering. However, the double chemical crosslinked DN hydrogel is limited by poor fatigue resistance.

Noncovalent interactions in proteins and nucleic acids: beyond hydrogen bonding and π-stacking.

Chemical Society Reviews, 2022
Understanding the noncovalent interactions (NCIs) among the residues of proteins and nucleic acids, and between drugs and proteins/nucleic acids, etc., has extraordinary relevance in biomolecular structure and function.
