Beyond Lip Service: A Position Paper to Truly Stimulate Shared Decision‐Making

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 3976-3985, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To discuss how shared decision‐making (SDM) is currently practised in hospitals, to highlight the essential—yet often underacknowledged—contribution of nurses to inclusive SDM in life‐prolonging treatment decisions, and to propose a five‐step implementation plan to strengthen the role of patients in the SDM process. Design A position paper

Mapping the Determinants of Female Employment: Labour Market Areas and Spatial Spillovers

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, Volume 117, Issue 2, Page 250-270, April 2026.
Abstract This paper examines the territorial determinants of female employment rates using labour market areas (LMAs) – functional units based on commuting patterns – to mitigate the Modifiable Area Unit Problem (MAUP). Drawing on detailed Spanish census microdata and spatial econometrics, we find that male unemployment negatively affects female ...

Frictional Heterogeneity Governs Slip Partitioning and Seismic Hazard in the 2023 Turkey Earthquake Doublet

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract Quantifying fault frictional properties is fundamental to understanding slip behavior and seismic hazard. We analyze 2 years of Sentinel‐1 SAR data following the 2023 Turkey earthquake doublet using Independent Component Analysis‐enhanced Small Baseline Subset‐InSAR, to resolve postseismic deformation and invert for afterslip on the East ...

The impact of soil erosion on corn yields: A spatial regression analysis

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract This study examines the impact of soil erosion on corn (Zea mays L.) yield across counties in the US Midwest. Using a novel county‐level panel dataset that includes information on water erosion and corn yield, we analyze the direct and spatial spillover effects of erosion using a spatial regression framework.

Integrating real‐world data with gold‐standard longitudinal clinical and genomic data to advance precision medicine for the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center Program and beyond: a proof‐of‐concept data platform

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Integrating real‐world data (RWD) with clinical research datasets creates more complete, context‐rich resources to drive discovery and enable precision medicine in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center conducted a proof‐of‐concept (POC) project to link its longitudinal Uniform Data

Enhancement of Modulation Bandwidth for VLC Utilizing Green Mini‐LED Light Source

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 5, Issue 3, March 2026.
This paper investigates three sizes of green Mini‐LEDs for visible light communication, focusing on modulation bandwidth and the impact of atomic layer deposition (ALD) sidewall passivation. ALD significantly enhances bandwidth (up to 21.6%), confirming suppression of nonradiative recombination.

A Dynamic Foraging Habitat Distribution Estimate for Green Turtles in the Great Barrier Reef

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
We develop telemetry‐based habitat models with boosted regression trees to identify the environmental characteristics underpinning foraging habitat suitability for green turtles in the Great Barrier Reef region. We then predict potentially suitable foraging areas for green turtles in the Great Barrier Reef region.

Predicted Relative Occupancy Probability of Raccoon Dogs (Nyctereutes procyonoides) in Northeast Beijing Using Bayesian Occupancy Models

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
We assessed raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides) occupancy in northeast Beijing using camera‐trap data. Occupancy was higher in nature reserves and northern areas, but declined with increasing human population and minor road densities, highlighting the impact of anthropogenic pressures.
