In normal cell apoptosis and proliferation are strictly controlled by intra- and extracell mechanisms. These signals interfere with cell pathways through cell receptors, estrogen, progesterone, HER2/neu receptors in the case of breast cancer.

Expression of apoptosis receptors on the cells in patients with herpes infections
Expressions of CD95 receptors on the leukocytes in patients with HSV-1,2 infection as well as on the cervical cells was decreased (р < 0,05). No significant changes of expression of CD95 receptor in patients with cytomegalovirus were revealed.
