The paper shows that in the spectra of optical density of water there are no strong qualitative differences between contaminated and unpolluted water. As it is stored, the optical density of all samples decreases (up to 40% in 12 days, up to 60% in 48 days).

The object of study is the cooling system of a glass melting furnace. The aim of the work is to analyze the possibility of replacing water cooling with air. The research method is a numerical analysis of the turbulent air flow in the channels located in the furnace body.
