In this work, the environmental protection regime for hydrocarbon production on the continental shelf was determined. The history of the development of legislative consolidation of the status of the Arctic in the USSR and Russia was analyzed. Based on this, it was concluded that at the moment the Russian system of Arctic legislation has not been formed.
