Jumbo bacteriophages related to phiKZ transcribe their genome using two of their own multisubunit DNA-dependent RNA polymerases: virion (vRNAP) and non-virion (nvRNAP). NvRNAP is responsible for the transcription of late genes. Apparently, the regulation of transcription of late genes is carried out differently for each species of giant bacteriophages.
