This paper presents methods that allow finding a solution to the equations of ballistic thermoelasticity for arbitrary initial conditions for temperature in the α-FPU chain. Special cases are considered: an initial distribution in the form of a delta function, a rectangular distribution, a decaying cosine and a cosine segment.
