Proteins of the anoctamine (ANO) family form calcium-activated chloride channels (CaCC). The most interesting member of the family is ANO6 (TMEM16F). ANO6 is a transmembrane protein with lipid scramblase and ion channel functions. ANO6 is involved in the modulation of plasma membrane area and regulation of transmembrane potential.
