A variational problem for a radial gas sliding bearing with three sectors is considered. The pressure distribution in the gas bearing is described by the nonlinear Reynolds equation for arbitrary compressibility numbers. The lifting force module is chosen as the problem functional, and the task is to find the maximum of the functional.
