Abstract General circulation models (GCMs) are typically run with coarse vertical resolution. For example, the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM) has a vertical resolution of about 200 m in the boundary layer, which is far too coarse to resolve sharp gradients often found in the thermodynamic fields capping subtropical marine stratocumulus.

Abstract Aim Citizen science data are increasingly used for modelling species distributions because they offer broad spatiotemporal coverage of local observations. However, such data are often collected without experimental design or set survey methods, raising the risk that bias and noise will compromise modelled predictions.

Abstract The recent increase in river restoration projects is altering habitat connectivity for many aquatic species, increasing the chance that previously isolated populations will come into secondary contact. Anadromous and landlocked alewife (Alosa pseudoharengus) are currently undergoing secondary contact as a result of a fishway installation at ...

Abstract Estimating abundance is an essential component of monitoring and recovery of rare species, and spatially explicit capture–recapture (SECR) models provide the means for robust density estimation. Previous work has elucidated principles of SECR study design for large, generalist carnivores, but less attention has been paid to study design ...

High Overlap in Niches and Suitable Habitat Between an Imperiled and Introduced Cottontail
The rare and declining New England cottontail (Sylvilagus transitionalis) faces increased competition from an introduced competitor, the eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus). We developed species distribution models using Maxent and niche overlap models using principal component analysis to identify spatial and environmental niche overlap.

Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Using Mesoporous Honeycomb Iron Titanate
Mesoporous honeycomb iron titanate is synthesized via co‐operative self‐assembly of metal precursors, polymer, and urea. The incomplete crystal growth coupled with randomness on the structure provides more contact with the reactant and high light absorption capability in photocatalytic water splitting reactions.
