Ecology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2025.The rare and declining New England cottontail (Sylvilagus transitionalis) faces increased competition from an introduced competitor, the eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus). We developed species distribution models using Maxent and niche overlap models using principal component analysis to identify spatial and environmental niche overlap.
