The prenatal caregiving expectations questionnaire‐revised version: Factor structure, internal consistency, and initial construct validity

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 45, Issue 5, Page 541-556, September 2024.

International Biological Flora: Ceratonia siliqua

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 112, Issue 8, Page 1885-1922, August 2024.
The carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) has a long traditional history in Mediterranean cultures providing food for humans and domestic animals. Its remarkable tolerance of drought, salt and fire, with an ability to thrive in poor, dry soils, makes it ideal for a warming Mediterranean climate.

Parental sensitivity and family conversation: A naturalistic longitudinal study with both mothers and fathers across three time‐points in early infancy

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 45, Issue 4, Page 357-368, July 2024.
Abstract Parental verbal sensitivity is known to promote child language skills, but few studies have considered: (a) links between global (i.e., verbal, behavioral, and affective) measures of parental sensitivity and infant‐initiated conversations, an important precursor to language development; (b) whether maternal and paternal sensitivity show ...

Explore before you restore: Incorporating complex systems thinking in ecosystem restoration

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 5, Page 922-939, May 2024.
By illustrating how key Complex Systems Science (CSS) concepts linked to non‐linear threshold behaviour can impact restoration outcomes through influencing recovery trajectories, our framework Explore Before You Restore demonstrates the need to incorporate Complex Systems thinking in ecosystem restoration. We argue that inclusion of CSS assessment into

Social resilience indicators for pandemic crises

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 48, Issue 2, April 2024.
Coping and recovery capabilities in disasters depend to a large part on the social resilience of the societies or regions that are hit by the respective disruptions. Prior disaster studies suggest a variety of indicators to assess social resilience in the natural hazard context.

Community resilience across Australia towards natural hazards: an application of the Conjoint Community Resiliency Assessment Measurement

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 48, Issue 1, January 2024.
Natural hazards can turn into disasters when not managed well. An important part of disaster risk reduction is to understand how well communities are prepared for natural hazards and how well they can cope with and recover from shocks in the long term.

Defining, collecting, and sharing perishable disaster data

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 48, Issue 1, January 2024.
Researchers across disciplines have long sought to collect ‘perishable data’ in the context of disasters. Yet, this data type is neither consistently defined nor discussed in specific detail in the literature. To address this gap, this paper defines perishable data and provides guidance on ways to improve both how it is collected and shared.

Recovering the status quo: tipping points and earthquake aftermaths in colonial India

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 48, Issue 1, January 2024.
Scholars of disaster politics debate how far natural hazards cause or catalyse political change. This paper builds on recent scholarship on tipping points and social contracts to argue that two case studies of historical earthquakes in 1930s British‐colonised India invite a focus on the dynamics of cooperation and conflict between state and non‐state ...
