Damage studies on irradiated tungsten by helium ions in a plasma focus device

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2020
Damage of tungsten due to helium ions of a PF device was studied. The tungsten was analyzed by SEM and AFM after irradiation. SEM revealed fine bubbles of helium atoms with diameters of a few nanometers, which join and form larger bubbles and blisters on

‘They Need to Hear You Say It’: Healthcare Professionals’ Perspectives on Barriers and Enablers to End‐of‐Life Discussions With Adolescents and Young Adults With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT End‐of‐life conversations with adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer rarely occur without the guidance of healthcare professionals. As a part of the ‘Difficult Discussions’ study, focused on palliative care and advance care planning discussions with AYAs with cancer, we investigated the factors that healthcare professionals identify ...

Hemifacial spasm due to vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia: a case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2015
Hemifacial spasm (HFS) happens because of vascular compression of the facial nerve at the root exit zone. Vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD) is a very rare cause of HFS. VBD is diagnosed by computed tomography angiography and magnetic resonance imaging.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Restriction conditions on PL(7, 2) codes (3 ≤ |𝓖i| ≤ 7)

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2018
The Golomb-Welch conjecture states that there is no perfect r-error correcting Lee code of word length n over ℤ for n ≥ 3 and r ≥ 2. This problem has received great attention due to its importance in applications in several areas beyond mathematics and ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
