On the Parameterized Complexity of Deletion to ℋ-Free Strong Components [PDF]
Directed Feedback Vertex Set (DFVS) is a fundamental computational problem that has received extensive attention in parameterized complexity. In this paper, we initiate the study of a wide generalization, the ℋ-SCC Deletion problem.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Local Stereology of Tensors of Convex Bodies [PDF]
In this paper, we present local stereological estimators of Minkowski tensors defined on convex bodies in ℝ d . Special cases cover a number of well-known local stereological estimators of volume and surface area in ℝ3, but the general set-up also ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

On the generic and typical ranks of 3-tensors
We study the generic and typical ranks of 3-tensors of dimension l×m×n using results from matrices and algebraic geometry. We state a conjecture about the exact values of the generic rank of 3-tensors over the complex numbers, which is verified ...

Varieties of signature tensors [PDF]
The signature of a parametric curve is a sequence of tensors whose entries are iterated integrals. This construction is central to the theory of rough paths in stochastic analysis. It is examined here through the lens of algebraic geometry.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

ℋ∞ Stability Conditions for Fuzzy Neural Networks
This paper presents a novel approach to assess the stability of fuzzy neural networks. First, we propose a new condition for the ℋ∞ stability of fuzzy neural networks.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
