Bipartisan Failures: How Political Agendas Undermine Core Ethical Principles in Emergency Management
ABSTRACT This paper examines how political agendas across the ideological spectrum compromise ethical principles in emergency management in the United States. Through a literature review and comparative fact‐based scenario analysis, it demonstrates that both conservative and liberal governments have politicized disaster declarations, resource ...

Effects of Grass Cover on the Overland Soil Erosion Mechanism Under Simulated Rainfall
Abstract Existing research on soil erosion primarily focuses on the individual effects of factors such as rainfall intensity, slope gradient, grass cover, and soil characteristics, with limited exploration of the interactions among these factors. This study investigated the mechanisms of soil erosion on overland covered with vegetation in the Loess ...

Island restoration to rebuild seabird populations and amplify coral reef functioning
Abstract Mobile organisms like seabirds can provide important nutrient flows between ecosystems, but this connectivity has been interrupted by the degradation of island ecosystems. Island restoration (via invasive species eradications and the restoration of native vegetation) can reestablish seabird populations and their nutrient transfers between ...

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from soils play a significant role in contributing to global warming. Vegetation types especially affect soil GHG production. Our findings suggest that the restoration of natural grassland and artificial N‐fixing shrubland like Caragana korshinskii should be encouraged to alleviate GHG emissions, with the practical ...

Abstract Sustainable land management (SLM) practices is a key to reducing rates of land degradation and has proven to ensure water security by increasing soil moisture availability, decreasing surface runoff, decreasing soil erosion, increasing infiltration, and decreasing flood discharge. Land degradation is adversely affecting over 75% of the Earth's

A case for stronger integration of physical landscape processes in conservation science and practice
Abstract I argue that the dynamic nature of contemporary, landscape‐shaping (geomorphic) processes deserves more consideration in conservation science and practice. In an analysis of a sample of fundamental terms related to geomorphology and area‐based conservation in the Web of Science, I found that the terms co‐occurred in <2% of the analyzed entries
