Rapid assessment of insect pollination services to inform decision-making. [PDF]
Abstract Pollinator declines have prompted efforts to assess how land‐use change affects insect pollinators and pollination services in agricultural landscapes. Yet many tools to measure insect pollination services require substantial landscape‐scale data and technical expertise.

Landscape-scale predictions of future grassland conversion to cropland or development. [PDF]
Abstract Grassland conservation planning often focuses on high‐risk landscapes, but many grassland conversion models are not designed to optimize conservation planning because they lack multidimensional risk assessments and are misaligned with ecological and conservation delivery scales.

Global justice and the opportunity costs of conservation
Abstract Opportunity costs can represent a significant portion of the costs associated with conservation projects and frequently outstrip other kinds of cost. They are typically understood to refer to the benefits someone would have obtained if conservation projects had not required them to give up current activities, such as farming or hunting or if ...

Tropical and subtropical Asia's valued tree species under threat
Abstract Tree diversity in Asia's tropical and subtropical forests is central to nature‐based solutions. Species vulnerability to multiple threats, which affect provision of ecosystem services, is poorly understood. We conducted a region‐wide, spatially explicit assessment of the vulnerability of 63 socioeconomically important tree species to ...

Fire occurrence increased with proximity to roads and villages, indicating that human access and activity are major drivers of fire risk. We analyzed spatial patterns of fire in relation to human settlements. Our findings highlight the need for fire management strategies that consider accessibility and human presence in conservation planning.

China's Eco‐Civilisation, Climate Leviathan, and Hobbesian Energy Transition
Abstract Scholars have hitherto tended to theorise China's ecological civilisation project either as a form of environmental authoritarianism or as a vision of eco‐socialism. This paper contributes to the conversation by conducting a textual analysis of Chinese scholarly discussions on eco‐civilisation.
