Confidence in public institutions is critical in containing the COVID‐19 pandemic

open access: yesWorld Medical &Health Policy, Volume 15, Issue 4, Page 553-569, December 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper investigates the relative importance of confidence in public institutions to explain cross‐country differences in the severity of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic. We find that a 1 SD increase (e.g., the actual difference between the United States and Finland) in confidence is associated with 56.3% fewer predicted ...

Computerized nailfold video‐capillaroscopy in type 2 diabetes: A cross‐sectional study on 102 outpatients 计算机化甲襞视频毛细血管镜在2型糖尿病中的运用: 对102例门诊患者的横断面研究

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 10, Page 890-899, October 2023., 2023
Highlights Patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) are prone to developing chronic diabetes‐related complications at the microvascular and macrovascular levels. The Computerized Nailfold Video‐Capillaroscopy (CNVC) provides specific information on both quantitative and qualitative characteristics of microvasculature at the level of fingers.

The impact of health literacy interventions on glycemic control and self‐management outcomes among type 2 diabetes mellitus: A systematic review 健康素养干预对2型糖尿病患者血糖控制和自我管理结果的影响:一项系统综述

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 9, Page 724-735, September 2023., 2023
Highlights Health literacy (H)L‐driven interventions were effective in controlling glycemic levels and improving diabetes self‐management outcomes. The level of glycemic control and self‐management skills were improved better through individual and telephone‐based intervention, respectively, in comparing group intervention.

Paraprofessional delivery of online narrative exposure therapy for firefighters

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 772-784, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Firefighters are at increased risk for developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and face numerous barriers to accessing mental health care. Innovative ways to increase access to evidence‐based interventions are needed. This study was a case series testing the acceptability, feasibility, and preliminary effectiveness of a ...

Groundwater mapping and locally engaged water governance in a small island terrain: Case study of Karainagar island, Northern Sri Lanka

open access: yesWorld Water Policy, Volume 9, Issue 3, Page 456-480, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Groundwater is a vital resource under threat in island communities. Karainagar, a 22 km2 island, is one of seven islands off the coast of Jaffna in Northern Sri Lanka, with its population of just about 11,000 persons, experiences seasonal water shortage, and salinity in groundwater as twin threats impacting on their lives.

Governing with health code: Standardising China's data network systems during COVID‐19

open access: yesPolicy &Internet, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 673-689, September 2022., 2022
Abstract Noting the infrastructural turn in platform studies, the article conceives China's health code system, Jian Kang Ma (JKM), deployed to manage the COVID‐19 crisis as a new social infrastructure that manifests the symbolic and material power of the Party State.

Weaving knowledges to support wildlife health surveillance in Kenya's pastoral rangelands

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract In wildlife–livestock–human interfaces, pathogens capable of spreading between wild and domestic animals and humans have important implications for conservation outcomes, economics, and public health. Robust wildlife health surveillance can help address these risks.

Nutritional and Physiological Markers Are Mediated by Seasonality and Forest Access in Captive Coquerel's Sifakas 圈养科氏冕狐猴 (Coquerel's Sifakas) 的营养和生理指标受季节性和森林通道的影响

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 652-664, December 2025.
We profiled nutritional and physiological markers in captive sifakas, endangered primates from Madagascar, managed in expansive, non‐native forest enclosures. Variation in many markers reflects freely foraged diets and the energy required to maintain homeostasis under more naturalistic conditions.

Variations in skin biophysical parameters with age, sex and breed in dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 689-695, October 2025.
Background – Understanding the physiological and biophysical characteristics of skin provides information for developing appropriate management strategies for skin diseases. However, in dogs, variations in skin biophysical parameters, such as age, sex and breed, remain poorly understood.

Research on Impact Load Inversion Based on Compressive Sampling and Model Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
