Assessing the conservation value of cemeteries to urban biota worldwide. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol
Abstract Cemeteries are key urban green spaces with multifaceted societal and ecological importance. Their biodiversity is shaped by unique environmental and cultural factors. They can potentially protect rare and endangered species, yet their conservation value compared with other urban green spaces remains largely unexplored.

Incorporation of human-wildlife interactions in ecosystem-based management to enhance conservation of endangered guitarfish. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol
Abstract Growing human use of the marine environment increases the proximity of humans to marine wildlife and thus likely increases human–wildlife interactions. Such interactions influence perceptions of nature and promote or undermine conservation. Despite their importance, human–wildlife interactions are rarely considered in ecosystem‐based marine ...

Exploring the Direct and Indirect Relations of E‐Book Narration and Bilingual Parent–Child Talk to Children's Learning Outcomes in EFL Shared Reading

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT E‐books, powered by multimedia and interactive features, are widely used to support young children's language and literacy development. This study examines the relations of e‐book narration and bilingual parent–child talk to children's learning during shared reading. Data from 121 English learners in China and their parents were analyzed using

From Iconic Species to Biodiversity: The Role of Zoos in Inspiring Visitors' Affinity for a Broader Range of Wild Animals

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 205-217, June 2025.
Zoo visits significantly influence wildlife preferences, enhancing fondness for a wider range of species and fostering affinity for less popular taxa. The interplay between enclosure and interpretive characteristics proved crucial in driving these changes, highlighting ways to optimize zoo conservation education. ABSTRACT Preferences for animal species

Continuous Detection of Wolf Canis lupus in Shangri‐la National Park for Three Consecutive Years, Yunnan, China 香格里拉国家公园连续三年发现狼(Canis lupus)的活动

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 116-119, June 2025.
This study provides definitive evidence of wolf presence based on camera trap surveys conducted in Shangri‐La National Park, northwestern Yunnan, between 2022 and 2024. This remarkable rediscovery highlights the critical role that well‐managed national parks can play in facilitating the recovery of endangered species.

General‐purpose genotypes and evolution of higher plasticity in clonality underlie knotweed invasion

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 2, Page 758-768, April 2025.
Summary Many widespread invasive plant species express high phenotypic variation across novel environments, providing a unique opportunity to examine ecological and evolutionary dynamics under global change. However, studies often lack information about the origin of introduced populations, limiting our understanding of post‐introduction evolution.

Innovative Exploration of Urban Nature Education: The Mini Botanical Garden Concept 城市自然教育的创新探索:小微植物园实践

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 10-19, March 2025.
Brief summary: Urbanization is leading to “Nature‐deficit Disorder” that threatens children's health and the sustainable development of humanity. This study implements a new solution—the Mini Botanical Garden, which integrates some of the functions of botanical gardens into community green spaces to popularize nature education in the city.
