Subspecies taxonomy reflects social and geographic patterns of taxonomic effort in tetrapods

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Subspecies have been used in conservation biology to account for intraspecific patterns in genetic diversity, which is crucial to long‐term population viability. Although over 3200 subspecies are currently assessed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, their biological relevance remains controversial.

Removal Thickness Prediction and Process‐Window Identification in Laser Cleaning of Multilayer Aerospace Coatings

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Precise control of removal thickness is critical for laser cleaning of multilayer aerospace coatings particularly for selective removal without substrate exposure. However, the process response becomes highly sensitive near coating interfaces, making reliable parameter selection difficult.

Integrating fossil data in ecological niche models to improve predictions of future habitat of Caribbean corals

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Ecological niche models (ENMs) are used to assess the abiotic preferences of species by linking their occurrences to the environmental conditions in which they live. We developed a fossil‐informed ENM framework that integrates mid‐Holocene and modern occurrences to test niche stability and reconstruct abiotic niche characteristics for four ...

Psychometric framework for coexistence with large carnivores

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Human–carnivore coexistence is essential for biodiversity conservation, yet measuring the attitudes and behaviors that support it remains methodologically challenging. We developed psychometric scales to assess willingness to coexist with carnivores and the underlying beliefs of this coexistence through an iterative expert elicitation process ...

Entrapping the Hegemon: How Benjamin Netanyahu's Threat Rhetoric Drives US Military Escalation

open access: yesPolitics &Policy, Volume 54, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT How do materially weaker junior allies influence a hegemon's military posture? Existing theories rely on unobservable covert diplomacy, leaving alliance entrapment methodologically unresolved. This research note introduces a mixed‐methods framework, integrating computational text analysis, time‐series forecasting, and qualitative process ...

基于R-FPOP变点检测的城市路段旅行时间预测

open access: yes, 2019

Scaling from microsite to landscape to resolve litter decomposition dynamics in globally extensive drylands

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 9, Page 2726-2736, September 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Decomposition is the transformation of dead organic matter into its inorganic constituents. In most biomes, decomposition rates can be accurately predicted with simple mathematical models, but these models have long under‐predicted decomposition in globally extensive ...

Intangible drivers of tolerance shape human–elephant coexistence in Southwest China

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 8, Page 2763-2780, August 2026.
Abstract Southwest China is home to a small but rapidly expanding population of Asian elephants (Elephas maximus), whose growth has intensified conflicts with people living in shared landscapes. These conflicts result in substantial economic losses and occasional human casualties. This coexistence paradox—where conservation success leads to significant

The Formation and Hardening Mechanisms of Multiscale Gradient Structures Tailoring by Explosive Hardening and Annealing in Commercially Pure Titanium

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Gradient structures (GS) introduced by plastic deformation have been shown to effectively enhance the surface properties of metallic materials. However, the GS fabricated by existing methods often suffers from limited hardening depth and limited control over the GS layer, which constrain their engineering applications.

Hypertension at 5 months postpartum in women with gestational diabetes

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 202-210, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with future maternal cardiovascular disease, independent of the development of Type‐2 diabetes mellitus. As a major cardiovascular risk factor, we examined the incidence and predictors of hypertension at 5 months postpartum in women with previous GDM.
