Evaluating protected areas’ coverage of threats to terrestrial biodiversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Protected areas (PAs) are vital for biodiversity conservation and have expanded globally. However, increasing pressures on biodiversity make it difficult to achieve conservation goals. Using threat probability maps based on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List and the World Database of Protected Areas, we analyzed the ...

Community‐informed and codesigned research to understand the impacts of railways on wildlife

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Trains cause mortalities of several animal species, but the ecological impacts of railways are understudied. Most research on wildlife–train collisions has focused on large mammals, but understanding railway‐specific risks for underrepresented taxa, especially vulnerable species, is important for developing effective mitigation strategies ...

Comparison of the in vitro antibiofilm activities of otic cleansers against canine otitis externa pathogens

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 2, Page 148-158, April 2025.
Background – Biofilm production by canine otitis externa (COE) pathogens and resistance development to multiple antimicrobials are commonly reported problems in veterinary practice. The use of adjuvants to disrupt biofilms may be a viable adjunctive therapy.

Engaging youth in biodiversity education through visual narrative

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 6, December 2024.
Abstract Engaging youth in early and sustained conservation education has important implications for promoting positive attitudes and behaviors in those who will become the future of conservation and management. Toward this goal, visual narratives (comic books, graphic novels) are an increasingly popular method used by conservation scientists to ...

Perspectives on inclusion, safety, and belonging from members of the North American LGBTQIA+ conservation community

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 6, December 2024.
Abstract Conservation scientists work in diverse settings, sometimes requiring them to exist in spaces where they do not feel safe, included, or accepted. This is often the case for the LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and others) community, which is frequently marginalized in conservation spaces. We

半刚性钢框架-冷弯薄壁型钢填充复合墙板结构的计算模型及时程分析

open access: yesJianzhu Gangjiegou Jinzhan, 2021

open access: yesJianzhu Gangjiegou Jinzhan, 2013

Trade and socioeconomic importance of an invasive giant snail in the endemic‐rich island of São Tomé, Central Africa

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 5, October 2024.
Abstract Managing invasive species is crucial to mitigate their negative impacts on ecosystems, yet conflicts may arise when their social benefits are disregarded. Human pressure on the endemic‐rich forests of São Tomé has been high since the island was discovered by the Portuguese in the 15th century, and numerous species have been introduced.

Rates of tree cover loss in key biodiversity areas on Indigenous Peoples’ lands

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 3, June 2024.
Abstract Indigenous Peoples’ lands (IPL) cover at least 38 million km2 (28.1%) of Earth's terrestrial surface. These lands can be important for biodiversity conservation. Around 20.7% of IPL intersect areas protected by government (PAs). Many sites of importance for biodiversity within IPL could make a substantial but hitherto unquantified contribution

Review of hyperdispersal in wildlife translocations

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 1, February 2024.
Abstract Species translocation is a common tool to reverse biodiversity loss, but it has a high failure rate. One factor that contributes to failure is postrelease hyperdispersal, which we define as the long‐distance movement of individuals resulting in their failure to contribute to population establishment.
