We discussed the key assumptions of Distance sampling that were considered hard to meet in mountainous terrains and potential solutions for them. Our survey yielded comparable estimates from distance sampling and double‐observer survey, although the confidence interval from distance sampling was broader.

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Many studies have focussed on niche differentiation at the population level to explain the coexistence of similar species. However, information on how individual‐level processes across multidimensional niches shape community dynamics and species coexistence, especially ...

Abstract This article argues that social actors' media ideologies about digital interfaces are key to the enregisterment of online activities. Focusing on an online register emergent from user activities around Year, Hare, Affair (YHA)—a state‐aligned Chinese animation—I explore how different metadiscourses evaluate this register by entextualizing ...

After the great Chinese poet Qu Yuan (屈原) was exiled to Xupu (溆浦) county in Hu' nan province, he described the forest there as follows: “mysterious is the deep forest, the place where Yuán yòu dwell (深林杳以冥冥兮,乃猿狖之所居).” What is the referent of the name Yuán yòu in this sentence?

A social network analysis of an epistemic community studying neoliberal conservation
Abstract Researchers typically operate in epistemic communities: groups that share common approaches to research agendas and sociopolitical action and define areas of debate. Although productive in their own spheres, a lack of understanding among these communities can undermine scientific progress. Thus, analyzing epistemic communities is important for
