Acceptance and Engagement in Artificial Intelligence–Supported Reading Among Primary School Learners of English as a Foreign Language

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used to support language learning, yet little is known about how younger learners accept and engage with AI‐assisted reading. This study investigates primary school students’ acceptance of and engagement with an AI‐supported adaptive reading application for English as a Foreign Language (EFL ...

紫外固化用于高耐久柔性电路的制备研究

open access: yesFushe yanjiu yu fushe gongyi xuebao

open access: yesHe jishu

Assessing Argument Quality in L2 Argumentative Writing: Integrating Argument Elements and Intellectual Standards

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Many existing rubrics for L2 argumentative writing prioritize form‐based linguistic accuracy and complexity while insufficiently addressing substantive argumentative rigor and effectiveness. This limitation is further complicated by cross‐cultural variation in rhetorical conventions and educational practices, which challenge the direct ...

Unraveling Student Anxiety in EFL Classrooms in China: The Roles of the Classroom Environment and Control–Value Appraisals

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, control–value theory (CVT) was used to investigate how students’ perceptions of the classroom environment shape their anxiety in the context of English as a foreign language (EFL) learning through the mediating effects of control and intrinsic value appraisals.

Vocabulary Strategy Instruction in the Argentine EFL Context: Teachers’ Perspectives and Practices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite extensive research on vocabulary strategy instruction (VSI), little has been known about teachers’ perspectives on how it is understood and implemented in practice. This study investigated Argentinian EFL teachers’ priorities in vocabulary instruction, their perceived knowledge of learner strategies for spoken vocabulary, and factors ...

The Effects of Gen‐AI on Situated and Future‐Driven Academic Writing Motivation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the increasing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen‐AI) in education, there is still a significant gap in understanding its effects on the situated‐ and future‐driven motivation in academic writing. This longitudinal design‐based research sought to explore variations in academic writing motivation of 110 Chinese university ...

L2 Chinese Grammatical Acquisition and Processing: A Substantive and Methodological Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a systematic review of 92 empirical studies on Chinese as a second language (CSL) in grammatical processing and development, synthesizing their substantive foci and methodological characteristics. The results reveal consistent scholarly attention to cross‐linguistic topics, with less focus on features that are distinctively
