Intact coastal nursery rearing amid climate‐driven phenological shifts in threatened salmon

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Literature linking phenology to climate has proliferated in recent decades and shows that climate change has reorganized seasonal opportunities worldwide. However, this literature often quantifies changes in point measures of timing (e.g., beginnings and peaks) without context about duration (e.g., rearing season length) or performance (e.g ...

How endorser attributes influence conservation communication

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Conservation communication often uses the celebrity endorsement strategy. However, robust evidence regarding its effectiveness is still limited. More importantly, practitioners do not have guidelines for selecting an ideal endorser because there is no clear consensus on what endorser attributes are most critical.

Learning Styles, Engagement and Anxiety in AI‐Mediated Writing: A Multimodal Feedback Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) tools now permeate English academic writing. However, evidence on how feedback modalities align with student differences and with psychological mechanisms remains limited. Prior work often reduced learning styles to simple matches with delivery modes and treated learning engagement and writing anxiety as peripheral.

The Impact of AI‐Assisted L2 Learning on Learners’ Emotions: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The scope of research on AI‐assisted second/foreign language (L2/FL) learning has expanded beyond learning outcomes to focus on learners’ emotional experiences. Despite their proliferation, existing empirical findings are inconsistent, and few studies have systematically synthesized the impacts of AI‐assisted L2 learning on learners’ emotional

Unraveling Student Anxiety in EFL Classrooms in China: The Roles of the Classroom Environment and Control–Value Appraisals

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, control–value theory (CVT) was used to investigate how students’ perceptions of the classroom environment shape their anxiety in the context of English as a foreign language (EFL) learning through the mediating effects of control and intrinsic value appraisals.

The Role of Positive and Negative Emotions in Resilience Among L2 Learners: A Three Level Meta‐Analytic Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Second/foreign language (L2) learning is not solely a cognitive/linguistic acquisition process but includes mixed emotional experiences. Understanding how these emotional experiences relate to resilience could help our understanding of how learners navigate fluctuations in emotions when learning an L2.
